Does it happen every time or intermittently?

Got any PCI cards of any sort? It seems like a lot of sleep issues have been PCI card-related.

This happened to me on my quad and it turned out to be a processor problem. It was shutting down because it thought the processor was overheating. You may want to install something like Temperature Monitor Lite so you can see your temps in the menubar before it shuts down.

Yes I have a PCI card for two additional drives placed behind the power button. I have several friends who has this arrangement without any trouble but I suspect it does cause much more heat. I will try the temp monitor thing. Does it tell you a safe operating temp ?

If the machine is shutting down because of a thermal problem, you should be able to find something about that in the system logs.
