I start noticing this lately. Very often, after I boot the laptop, the airport program will occupy 95% of the CPU and 1.5 GB of ram. I have been monitoring using the "Activity Monitor"
I notice my laptop is running hot (80+ degree).

Do you guys have the same problem?
I have MBP 17" 2.16 CD with 10.4.8

I have never seen a process go that crazy. Does the same behavior occur with other users of the machine (I suggest creating one if you don't have any)?

Hi SSharon,

Thanks for your suggestion.

I created a brand new user, it was very slow to switch to a new user.... still the airport usage it still bad....
Both the original user and the new user occupies 90+% of CPU.

I always reboot when I see this.... 8 out of 10 times, the airport will go crazy.
2 out of 10, it is okay......

+1 : same thing happened here: MacBook 2GHz CoreDuo, running 10.4.8. I just installed VPN-1 SecureClient R56 in UB, and boom ! airport goes 100% CPU. If I stop the SecureClient, and kill the airport process, everything comes back to normal.

So let's wait for an update from Apple or Checkpoint...

How strange. I don't even see a process airport here, even though I'm connected via the internal airport card. Although I did notice a bit more fan activity using the wireless connection vs. using the RJ45.
