Get Info problems with OS 10.4.8 music files

Was requested by OS to upgrade to iTunes 7.1.3 and to OS 10.4.8. Did so, restarted and tried to burn a music CD by dragging AIFF files created with Audacity into Toast 6.0.9 Lite.

Was told that Toast didn't recognize them as music files. Tried to Get Info on files and the screen flashed as if it was going to get me the info and failed. I tried it on mp3s, aiffs, didn't matter. Get Info won't work on them or any music files. However, it works on everything else. Everything except music files. And Toast won't acknowledge music files it used to accept without problem.

Does anyone know anything about these updates that might cause such problems?
I'm on a Mac G5 Dual 2.7 GHz..
