Installing new OS on a new hard drive, does it allow partitioning from Disk Utility?

Disk utility does allow for partitiioning. I have used it for a couple of Linux installs. If you are doing the same, make sure to partition as free space...

Many folks do not think it a necessary or even good idea to partition. If you search this forum for partitioning, you'll find a bunch of really helpful info.
