Hmm. Downloaded and installed - Safari seems to be flying! Perhaps it's my imagination...

It deleted my Windows partition!!!

Just kidding of course, after updating all is still silky smooth with my MacBook.

Unfortunately, the update seems to have hosed my iMac G4. After restarting, the system goes into an endless loop of crashing after booting into the Finder. Finder launches, and then crashes, launches, and then crashes... ad nauseum. I safe booted holding down the shift key, and there is no crashing, but of course all the useful things (such as Airport) are now turned off.

Any suggestions beyond reinstalling the system (and slogging through system updates)?

Try resetting the PRAM a few times (hold down cmd-opt-P-R after powering up).

Create a new user, log in as that user, and see if the Finder crashing problem persists.

If it doesn't, then it's something in your home folder.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

Uh oh. Installed the update, restarted and now I've got a blue startup screen with the little "progress" gear-like circle thing going around and around and around and around...

10 minutes so far...

I know- I must be seeing things myself but Safari does seem to running faster for me also.

Perhaps its because I updated the bindings... I dunno.

Agreed, it's a very slow reboot, but that's typical after updates. A lot of stuff must be rebuilt. But everything's fine now!

Blimey! That's 16.8 kilojoules to the ounce! Very impressive!

mine (PB G4 1.33) was quick to reboot, seems a little quicker in Safari - probably down to restarting. No probs with update

Yep, no problems here for me either on my Intel Mac Mini Core Duo. I also did the EFI Firmware Update 1.2 or whatever at the same time - everything went without a hitch.

I'm out of town and without a way to reinstall the OS on my MBP should it get corrupted, so I wont be installing it until I return (though I did download the install package).

Installed last night on my MBP C2D. No problems to report. Everything is running as it should, as far as I know.

No problems on a G5 or a Pismo. And Safari does seem faster. . .

Well I'm having a weird issue with the update, after downloading it thru the Software Update app and manually the update doesn't want to finish the install. It quits around the 75% mark and then errors out saying the retry the install. So after doing that a couple of times with it not finishing the install I went ahead anf trashed the .pkg file and then found out some how the update hosed my Trash...

click here for my thread regarding this

So has anyone else have this happen or have any idea why this would happen?
