I have a few very simple questions about transferring files from my old iMacG5 to my new MacBookPro...

1. Does it transfer all files (ie. applications, ...) or just the documents folder? I really only want the actual document folder. My son has added alot fo applications to the G5, that I do not want to junk up the new MBP.

2. iTunes? When I transfer the files, will it also move my iTunes library? Any issues with protection issues> ie. playing songs on another computer?

3. can i do this via wirless connection? or through a direct FireWire cable? Any special firewire cable required?

Sorry if this was asked before, but did not find specific answers to above...

I think you are planning to move your stuff using the Migration Assistant...? It tells you that you need to do as you go along. You will hook up the two Macs using a Firewire cable (a normal one) and then you will need to reboot your old Mac holding down 'T' on the keyboard. It will mount on your new Mac and the Migration Assistant will do its thing. You are asked what you want to move. You will want to move your user folder with your stuff in - your files, music, e-mail etc.

You don't have to move the applications although it might be easier to copy everything over and delete what you don't want rather than re-installing the apps you do require.
