I know how to share the public folder, what if I want to share other folders between Macs (I just got one for me wife for christmas so I am setting it up - and as a reminder, I come from Windows world)
I searched, but all I can find are references between Windows and mac. Not mac to mac, unless its the public folder reference. I know it must be easy. Please help.

The first thing I can think of is to use idisk and have a folder on it to put stuff.
I have file sharing ticked in my sharing preference pane as well, and I can log into the other user's home folder(with the right password of course), and then I have their user account as a connected server...

It's not that easy actually, I think Apple reserves this function for Mac OS X Server. But this program can do it for you: SharePoints 3.5.4 - MacUpdate

No, I mean the functionality in Server is to share any particular folder you like. With the normal version of X you can either share things through the 'Public' folder or share a whole Home folder by logging in as that user from anther machine. Obviously if all you want to do is share a few files and you don't won't to keep them in the Public folder it is very inconvenient.
The approach in Windows (and Mac OS 9) is better in that you can just any folder to share. The freeware program I mentioned lets you do that.

If you login as Guest, you get access to a Public folder. But if you login as a Registered User, you should be able to access everything that user can access.
