Is there a way to automatically hide all other apps when using Apple-Tab? I use the Apple-Tab function a lot to switch apps, and too often have to then go back to the app I switched from and hide it in order to minimize desktop clutter from unused windows in the background. I'd like to just use Apple-Tab and, upon doing so, have all windows from applications than the current one automatically hide. Is there a way to do this (e.g. a Preferences setting or a downloadable program)?

Thanks in advance.

The closest I can come up with is once you have selected the program you want, just use Option-Command H and that will hide all the applications in the background...

I use a piece of shareware called ASM for this.

Its main purpose is to provide an application switcher in the menubar, but I don't use this (you can turn it off). But it also can automatically hide all other applications when you bring one forward (and you can defeat this on a per-application basis if you have an app--a calendar, say, or Stickies--that you never want hidden).

It's $15, but I think it's well worth it.

If you Command-Option click an icon in the dock then all applications besides the one you click will become hidden.

DragThing also does this with an option+click in the Application dock.
