Hi all.

I'm trying to copy files from a hard drive on one computer to a hard drive on another computer. Any time I try this, I get an error code "-50" (Parameter error according to Apple's error code list). This seems to be random as it happens on different folders and when trying the same folder three times it never happened at the same time.

Does anyone know what this means or how to fix this?

I had tracked down this thread but can't really find any relevant answer in it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Tobbi.

Basically (I think), the -50 error is a result of copying data from a Mac formatted to a PC formatted volume. No doubt others can provide a better/correct technical explanation.

KopyMac http://www.tcsn.net/mont/index2.html (freeware) claims to resolve this issue.

Not a great response I know, still, hope it is of some help.

Thanks for the reply.

I should've mentioned the system specs. I'm copying from various Macs (intel and G5) to a LaCie Ethernet Disk (2TB Gigabit one). The LaCie has Windows Embedded on it. Another thing I've noticed, apart from these errors is that any attempts at copying from the Macs to the LaCie happen at much slower speeds than from a Mac to a Mac. Although they are all Gigabit capable I'm getting speeds of approx 10-15Mbits for LaCie <-> Mac but 35-50Mbits for Mac <-> Mac.

This Ethernet Disk purchase doesn't seem to live up to its promises
