Click in the Apple icon located on the upper right of your screen and select `About this Mac'. Right below MacOS X, the version number appears. The latest version of the Operating System is 10.4.8. If it says 10.4.x where x is any number from 0 to 7, you can update to 10.4.8 by selecting Software Update in the `About this Mac' window.

If you can't find the Apple icon there, you could try to have a look at the upper left as well.
