When I was wanting to open a photo in Fireworks instead of Preview, I encountered this mess:
I only have one copy of Camino installed (used to use Intel Optimized version, but deleted it), don't even have Opera installed anymore, and I don't know why the CrossOver thing is there in the first place.
How can I remove some of these options?

Opera is included with PhotoShop CS3 beta. I noticed this myself because I couldn't understand why on earth I had it in my list to begin with.

CS3beta - perhaps they removed it from the final version?

The final version that no one has because it doesn't exist yet? Maybe.

Sorry to derail this thread, but what if you want to ADD one option? Often I want to open a picture with Photoshop 5.5 (Classic) but it doesn't appear in the list..

RCDefaultApp prefpane will allow you to set PS 5.5 as a default app, which would keep it at the top of the list. Whether this works in unison with classic, I don't know...

Thank you! I will try that!

I don't think it would add it to the list permanently, it only lets you choose an app for this particular time?

FWIW:
I too noticed that duplicate issue after using SuperDuper. So I asked Dave Nanian, the developer, if he had insight. His reply:
"The reason you see multiple items, after using SuperDuper!, is because you're creating new copies of the applications (on the backup). Since the paths to these applications are different, LaunchServices puts them in again."
I presume this is also the case with CCC.
As noted above, rebuilding the Launch Services Database with OnyX, Cocktail or similar utilities is a solution.

I'm currently looking through the options of it, haven't found anything so far...
Also, could someone edit the thread title and correct the spelling error? I tried doing it myself, but it didn't work for some odd reason...
