Any ideas as to why the sharing icon is the way it is?

wow, I have exactly the same problem.

Somewhere in the past, I installed something (don't remember what) and since them I have that stupid icon. It really bothers me.

Stinks to know that I'm not the only one, some third party application (I think) is messing the system.

Exact same thing happened to me (after installing Parallels I think).

Easy fix: use Onyx (or similar) to clear the system caches.

Fixed my issue.
