First off, correct me if I'm on the wrong forum...

I have a 160 gig external drive. It has one folder in it with 85 gig worth of data in it. The finder is reporting that I only have just less than 4 gig of space left. Trash has been emptied and all that, but no avail. Any reason why this is happening?

Have you tried Disk Utility? Select the drive in the left column then hit "Repair Disk." It may sort it out, if it's a directory problem.

Thanks for the reply! I tried that, and it said no problems were found. Any other thoughts?

Try either OmniDiskSweeper or Whatsize to find out what is using your disk space up. It is possibly a log file (check console.log and system.log to see if you are getting a repeating error message that is causing these log files to increase to ridiculous sizes).

If you're talking about the display under the drive's name on the desktop (not on by default, but you may have enabled it), that thing only updates when the drive is mounted. Try unmounting and remounting it.
