Normally when I restart my mac, the screen goes off in about 30 seconds. But sometimes, after a long session when I restart my mac, all the icons go off and it takes about 4 minutes to shut the screen off.
What may be happening?

My Mac is an original G4/400 AGP Graphis. Now its running with a Fastmac 1.5 processor upgrade, 1GB RAM, OS installed in a serial ATA 250 GB HD connected to a Sonnet serial ATA card.

It's most likely normal and happens on every machine. It's just the system waiting a longer period for additional background processes to shut down.
