Hi
Restarted my iMac g5 today and now OS X doesn't seem to recognize the letter keys.

Caps, Tab, F Keys, Eject, Sound Keys etc all work but when it comes to typing a sentance it just doesn't seem to work. I've tried typing in a few apps but nothing.

My USB keyboard works on other computers, and my bluetooth keyboard acts the same way.

I've tried resetting the PRAM, starting in safe mode, removing my prefs from my user folder and removing all my peripheral devices.

I am running the latest version of Tiger with all relevant updates.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so have you got it fixed?

Thanks for your help

It sounds like a different keyboard map got selected. Look in the input menu tab of the International preference pane.

Hi
Thanks for that it seems that may be the problem as there is no english language selections available in the Input Menu. Any idea how to get it back?

Also it may be worth knowing that the Keyboards & Mouse Pref seems to crash System Preferences.

EDIT: it seems the letters will work when I have to put in my password, but thats it.

Thanks
Ferguson

You show more options by using the Keyboards and Mouse Preferences... but it sounds like that is your problem. Try trashing it's preferences (in ~/Library/Preferences).
