OS 10.4.8 MacBook 1.8Ghz 2GB RAM...

I've got "item info" turned on, and for the most part it works as intended (I assume), but the one issue I have is the amount of free space that shows up for drive's on the desktop only updates when I restart the machine... which is rare.

For instance, I have a 200GB external hard drive, and it currently shows 1.86GB free... but when I do a "get info" on it, it shows there's over 2.5GB free.

The MacBook's internal hard drive "item info" does the same thing, so it's not a matter of it not working with an external drive.

Is there any way to fix this?
