I just got a new macbook so I transfered my user folder onto my new one. When I transfered the files, the folder did not display the "house/home" image any more. Is there any way I can get this image back displayed for a user?

try this, locate your home folder on your HD, do a get info (CMD-i) click on the icon top left on the window that opens and press CMD-x that should take the icon back to it's default icon.

I think the Migration Assistant is the most painless and safe way to bring your data to a new machine. The reason I ask is because I suspect the name of your new account is not the same as the name of your old account. The Migration Assistant would prevent such problems.

The name is the same. Should that be a problem? Anyways how do I get it?

I don't why it isn't a house. Maybe you can copy the house icon from another account and paste it onto your home folder manually.

I'm not 100% sure what's going on here. Perhaps you should elaborate on what it is that you did.

FWIW - You can't just copy a user folder from one Mac to another and have it be a valid user account. If you did just manually copy that folder over you could try going into the Accounts System Preferences pane and add the account with the same shortname etc. It should tell you that a folder by that name already exists and ask you if you want to use it.

Also keep in mind that it will only show the house icon for the account that you are currently logged in to.
