!! i just woke my powerbook from sleep (10.4.8); my mail messages said something like "this message not yet downloaded from server".

went to quit it. went to quit safari, and message "cannot save bookmarks".

rebooted, and my user library was at default, ie no: mail, bookmarks, prefs...everything.

any ideas???? where did my library go?

found it (insert big sigh-0f-relief smiley here);
somehow my user library wound up in my pictures folder...

am back in business!
