My boss said, that if I could convince him, that buying a mac would increase my productivity, I would get one.
I am currently working as a designer for a magazine, my usual day tasks include using adobe creative suite CS2 and more or less nothing else. I was thinking about this quite a lot, but I can't find any good answers.
Oh, and the fact, that there are no viruses for the Mac I already know.

Spotlight, Exposé and no MDI.
I can't stand working with Adobe in Windows. It slows me down to a crawl.

Just kidnap his kids, cut off their right ears and post them to him in an envelope.
Works every time, I've found.

Do a little analysis and come up with some numbers that show how he can save money by switching to Macs.
Managers go for the hard numbers game. The touchy-feeling arguments don't cut it.

msuper69 is perfectly accurate. Come up with hard numbers... and real testimonies.
I received one because I was a production coordinator and I made the case that if the designers used Macs and the printer used a Mac, that I should use a Mac.
Also, hint on real world issues like color management, fonts, bla bla bla (stuff they don't understand).

Mention that Macs can run OS X, Windows, and Linux... all at the same time if you needed to. This will provide assured compatibility with your clients and coworkers no matter what computer or operating system they have.

For design you need to hit up the coup de grace of productivity.
Applescript. Design is about workflows and the more you automate the more your production rises. Tell him about Applescript and how most Apple apps that require any level or producitivy support Applescript. Tell him that Tiger has Automator which helps create Applescript workflows. Tell him that Leopard will allow even the novice to simply hit the "record" button and easily create scripted events with multiple applications.

I don't think its so much trying to convince him to buy a mac buy telling him how good they are... but by explaining how in-efficent and clunky windows is... its just a naff OS!!!!!
My old man upgraded to vista and now half the software/Hware doesnt work!!!!!
macs are the future...
As ppl have said... surely the fact that you can run muliple OS's makes it a more versatile option!!
