Hello,

recently my hard drive is greyed out in the finder.
In finder preferences i have it set be display in the sidebar but its not showing at all.
In preferences i have it set to show hard drive on desktop but it's not there.
My computer folder/icon doesnt show it...
If i follow an old alias that points to a top level directory i can still get to things...and if i fandangle the finder views i can go all the way back where it lists my harddrive, but it is still greyed out and unclickable?

os 10.4.9 imac 24 intel core2
all ownerships are set correctly...
ran all disk permissions and such from utility booted from installer disk...

either i'm being stupid or something bads going on...any advice?

thanx

Hi -- found the solution:

http://forums.macosxhints.com/archiv...p/t-67026.html

In a nutshell, you can use the "Path Finder" app to show the attributes for your missing Hard Drive (under Get Info), and unset the Invisible bit.

Now why did it get set in the first place for me, I have no idea, but it seems to be working now after a reboot, so I'm not complaining.
