I'm hoping someone can help. I periodically have difficulty copying files to my USB drive, as the finder complains that there's not enough free space. This happens despite the fact that the drive (Verbatim 1Gig) has about 600MB free, and the file is ~50k.
Whenever this happens, I empty the trash and clean up some files from the drive, and that will some times result in me being able to copy the file.
Does anyone have any bright ideas as to why this happens and what to do about it?
Does this happen on your machine only? Cause if not, it is possible that you have been sold a counterfeited flash drive with an actual lower capacity than it reports.
Whenever a USB drive gets flaky, reformat it. Make sure you copy over everything you want to keep to your hard drive. Launch Disk Utility, Erase. Depending on your needs, Mac Extended, FAT, whatever.
