My wife and her friend like MacBook, also they need to do some works in windows. So since Leopard provides boot-camp, they prefer to wait a few days to buy before their conference around June 6th, USA. My question:

1) How much is it ensured that Leopard will be in Matket before June?
2) If she buy Mac now, will she need to pay extraly for Leopard installation later?
3) Is OX one-time installed in MB or provided with CDs?

Your answer or suggestion will be greatly appreciated

thanks

There are no guarantees, except for the Up To Date program.

I am still betting on a mid-June release date. May is possible, but I wouldn't count on it. The only Apple event scheduled at the moment is WWDC in June.

Almost certainly. The price will most likely be around $120.

A DVD to reinstall the system and bundled software is included.

1) Not at all guaranteed, but it is likely that its release will either have been announced by then, or that the date of its release will be announced then.
2) Yes, definitely. The only way you wouldn't have to pay full price for an upgrade would be if the shipping date had already been announced, which it hasn't.
3) All Mac purchases come with software install and restore discs (probably a DVD for the MB). But you can't officially use them to install OS X on anything other than that Mac.

What about NAB, April 15th? Apple are making an appearance there. It's a possibility that Leopard will be released, or at least its release-date announced, anyway.

Uh, I hate to be the barrier of bad news but leopard is delayed until October. But I would def. switch to Mac. I love using its system. It is fun because of all the neat features and feels like you have a lot more freedom since you can run boot camp and os x.

Yeah, but NAB is not really an Apple event. Seems rather unlikely that they'll announce stuff unrelated to video.

Thank you. guys.

Seems what I can do is just waiting a couple of days..

By the way, Apple's keeping secret is 'wow' though.

I'm still betting on a May release, with June 11 being the absolute latest possible date.

There is a BootCamp beta that works with Tiger. You don't have to wait for Leopard.
I think Leopard is further away than just a few days.
Is June 6th another day in the USA than it is in the rest of the world?

The OP is saying rather than buy the MB now, they'll wait a few days prior to their conference on June 6th to buy. At least, I'm guessing that's the meaning.

1) What everyone else said. Leopard is slated for 'spring release' and with WWDC happening right before the official end of spring, the timing seems appropriate.
2) Buying a MB now would guarantee she'd have to pay around US$100-$120 for Leopard.
3) Answered many times.
