Ive noticed a drift in my time (the clock!) even though I have the check automatically box "checked" in sys prefs date and time.

If I go and open this sys pref THEN it resets the clock.

a long time ago I aske apple about this at a G Bar, and back them they said you had to be "high speed" and on line all the time

well Im FiOs now and the computer is on all the time!

but does not set the clock.

BTWay: how can a ComPuTer not really know the time based on its own calulations?

BTW II: I record a lot of HDTV at night! you wouln'd want me to get up or anything, would you? and no auto reawakeings doen's work for me

cheers

Check the firewall setting in the System Preferences under Sharing. Network time should be allowed.

How much drift? For instance, right now my G5 is 7 seconds ahead of my cell phone, so I consider them the same. Also, make sure it's set to time.apple.com, just in case.
