I lost my bookmark of the page that tells what to type into terminal to prevent the LCD on APple laptops from dimming to saving power. Yes, I know that it dims at whatever halfway is of when the display is set to go to sleep, but I like my display to go to sleep in 10 min, without any dimming the whole time.

Anyone know the commands?

Thanks!

It's something like that - is that the correct command for sure? I ask only because of your series of question marks.

Thanks!

Out of curiosity, why would you set this in the terminal instead of through the System Preferences panel?

From what I can gather, the screen dims at the halfway point of when you have it set to sleep. i.e.- If you set the display to sleep after ten minutes, it will dim after five minutes. The OP does not want the screen to dim at all before it sleeps. This terminal command seems to disable the dimming before sleep.

The sys pref option has never worked on any of my recent machines; didn't work on a Powerbook G4, an iMac Intel Core Duo, or a MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo. The pmset command works until I restart my computer, so I just do it every restart.

Anyone else have these bugs?

Thanks

The Preference does work on my Macbook Pro, however, there is a known bug in which the setting has to be toggled in the Energy Saver Preference pane in order for it to work.

That bug exists on my C2D iMac at work, too. Every time I restart my computer, I have to toggle all the settings in Energy Saver and manually restore my sound volume settings as well. It's annoying as all get out.

Yep my PowerBook has this bug and I've seen it on a number of other Apple laptops, and the Terminal command only works until restart, if at all. I've resigned to waiting for Leopard to fix this one .

Ooh didn't see the one about sound settings above - same thing on my Mac mini, every time I start up, the volume is at like 10 out of 16. Goodness knows what's going on there.
