New user account?

My user account is cluttered, and is starting to accumulate crud I don't want to deal with. I've come to the conclusion that I want to move out, move my files over, leave a lot of stuff I installed, then nuke the site from space. Sorry, delete it once I get my new account set up.

Is there anything I've missed? Is this a bad idea in any way? Is there an easier way to do what I want?
Thanks!

Depends how big your user account is, but I'd suggest zipping it up and backing it up before the whole 'nuking' procedure. Sometimes it takes a while to get around to using all the functionality one is used to, and it sucks to start over from scratch (I had some rather useful stickies that got lost once, in a similar situation).

It is rather a shame that OS X doesn't do a better job keeping ~/Library organized, but nothing to be done about it now, I guess.
