My MacBook's hard drive failed yesterday and got it replaced by Apple today. I have a backup of all of my data including files such as ones in the Library and System folders on an external firewire 400 drive. As I have done some research, I have found that I do not have a very good backup system - I just copied the contents of the MacBook hard drive onto the external drive. This has proven to be a bit of a mess in determining what I should do to move my data back. Does anybody have recommendations on how I would go about doing this? I'd like to keep all the applications and system setting.

Thanks in advance.

PS: I have a Mac Mini G4 loaded with Ubuntu and a 80 GB hard drive handy, if that could help anything.
2 GHz BlackBook Core 2 Duo, 2 GB of RAM and AppleCare.
