I've got a Digital Audio G4 running the latest version of OS X. For some reason I keep running out of disk space on the machine. The swap file is on a different disk so it should not be that. The disk s 36gig's... starts at 24gig's full and then the rest fills up after a few hours!

Any ideas what's causing my system to fill up?

Check your log files.

Definitely sounds like you have a log file going crazy. Check Console.app to see if you have anything strange. You can also use something like DiskInventoryX to see where your space is going.

hmm.. good suggestion, but i wouldnt use console to check. get some free util. like GrandPerpective to see which files are the biggest on your drive.

i tried opening a 20gb log file on my powermac g4 and it wasnt pretty. (kernel panic, 2hrs of hd/cpu activity. however, airport still seemed to be working even when it paniced.)

Well I used DiskInventoryX and it showed that BRU was making a big backup for some reason. So I deleted BRU and the backup. I'm hoping that was it... but I'm still suspicious.

A memory leak would not cause that much disk use would it?

No. And Console is pretty good at opening huge log files, as it only opens the first few hundred kilobytes or so. Then you can tell it to load more of the file.
