I hope I am posting this in the correct forum. I have a g3 imac that i purchased for my son and it has been a paper weight for 4 months now. I got it from ebay and it had osx10.1 on it. I wanted to upgrade the os but there was no classic. to make a long story short it now has a mac install cd for os 9.2.2us stuck in it and every time I try to eject it tells me that the startup disk cannot be removed because it contains the active system software. I am brand new to macs and i don't have a clue. would someone please help me eject this disk and install 10.3 I hope someone can help

hold down the mouse button or the eject button right after you push the power button...it should spit out the CD and let you put in the 10.3 install disc

Note, hookem's advice should be performed when you are restarting the Mac, not when you are shutting it down (sorry, hookem, but you didn't make that totally clear in your post). You should also keep the button held down until the disk has ejected to make sure that it will do so.
