1) Yes. Mount it normally, go to your account in system preferences, select login items, and drag the share from the desktop (or the finder) into that box. It will automatically log in when you log in.
2) It depends on the export. But sure, you can mount something like smb://servername/sharename
3) What protocol is the Novell using for export? It needs to be exported as SMB/CIFS. If it's using a proprietary (old) Novell protocol, Windows has support for it -- Mac OS X does not. OS X supports AFP, SMB/CIFS, NFS, FTP, DAV, HTTP, HTTP/S. Have the Novell export as one of those instead of one of their crappy proprietary protocols (Banyan?).
