The computer: 800 MHz iBook G4 running OS X 10.4.9

Whenever I wake my iBook, the mouse and keyboard are frozen for about a minute. The whole computer isn't frozen; the clock will update and if I plugin my iPod, it'll launch iTunes while the mouse/keyboard remain frozen. Restarting doesn't work. I do have ShapeShifter installed, but I've tried disabling that with no effect as well as quitting GMail Notifier and Quicksilver, which launch automatically on login.

What's even weirder is this: The freeze will only happen if I put the iBook to sleep by closing it. If I put it to sleep using the Apple Menu, it wakes just fine.

Any ideas or anyone experiencing the same thing? Thanks!

(I should note that when I say 'mouse' I mean the trackpad. I don't have a mouse or any peripherals connected.)
