Hello all,

This is my first post on these forums, so be gentle

Before I order the MacPro this week or next can someone confirm something for me.

I currently run 2 x 17" TFT's and I'm very tempted to order a 24" Widescreen Dell or Sammy or Apple monitor with it.

I'll be ordering it with the ATI X1900XT 512mb Dual DVI card. Which will run 2 monitors fine.

I need to know (I'd be surprised if it didn't) if Tiger supports more than 2 monitors?

Also, I will be wanting to plug my 26" LCD via VGA into the MacPro to watch films/dvds.
So at anyone time I want to be running 4 monitors.
Can Tiger support this without problems?

Also,

Can you configure the postions of the monitors?

Ideally I want them laid out like this

[ 17Inch TFT ] [ 24Inch Widescreen ] [ 17 Inch TFT ] [ 26" LCD TV ]

So I can move the mouse left and right to each of the monitors like I do now.

You can definitely configure the position of the monitors. In the Displays control panel you get a nice interface for dragging the monitors into their desired positions and can set any one of the screens as your primary display. According to an Apple tech note, previous versions of Mac OS X (at least as of 10.3.4) were limited to a maximum display width of 4000 pixels (Mac OS X: About Using Several Displays at High Resolutions, but I couldn't find anything that talked about this in regards to Tiger. So I would say if the total pixel width of all of your screens is 4000 or less, you are golden, if it's more, someone with more knowledge than I will have to chime in if Tiger can do more.

We're running a demo Mac Pro with a 30", a 23", and a 20" cinema display (off two graphics cards, naturally).

Now it's a case of waiting until the 27th (that's when I get paid) so I can put a rather large whole in my wallet.

Tiger supports up to 8 monitors, its a matter of graphics cards.
