From the man page...
sudo ipfw disable firewall
I don't use this one so I can't guarantee it works, but it seems like it would!
--OR--
sudo ipfw flush
This will flush all rules, thus for all intents and purposes, disabling the firewall. For some reason I usually use this one when I'm sshing into someone's machine at work and ARD isn't working. This has the added benefit of removing all the rules someone may have set up to keep you out of the machine.
Yeah, I already read the man pages, thanks. However, if I run that command the Firewall panel in Sharing doesn't reflect the firewall actually turning on or off. As far as I can tell, that doesn't fly. any other thoughts?
