anyone seen this problem with the dictionary widget before?
to me it looks like a font substitution problem, but I have searched fontbook for all phonetic, alt and IPA font and deactivated them all and yet the problem persists. The font it is most likely to be, Times Phonetic doesn't appear to exist on my system (I also searched with sherlock).
no worries I fixed it myself. The correct font is Baskerville, which has Cyrillic alternative (now deactivated). I'm not sure the dictionary widget is now using the correct font, its looks a little weird, but its at least readable.......
