Hi guys,

I have a problem with Spotlight, which is a shame because it seems like such a nice tool. I don't know what the exact date is, but after a certain date, my index stops updating. It returns every file that I installed on the computer about a month after I bought it, but since then, nothing. I can't find files or folders that I have created within the past 2 months, even though I can access them on the Finder and use them without problem. The date of modification has nothing to do with this.

I have reindexed my Spotlight several times, by using both the "MainMenu" application and the Terminal line. I'm at a loss.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

What terminal command did you use? Try: sudo mdutil -E /

Yeah! That's the one! I tried it before and I tried it just now when I read this...It DOES rebuild the index, but only to a certain point. Any other ideas?

Do you by chance have a large part of your drive excluded from Spotlight's indexing (look in the Spotlight pane of System Preferences).

There is a checkmark next to every category under "Search Results," and nothing listed under Privacy. I have also forced a re-index by placing the entire MacHD into the privacy listing and then moving it back out. Thanks for all the help so far!!
