Hey guys, I'm having a really hard time trying to figure out how to connect a Mac machine to a Vista machine. I can easily connect to a XP machine but not Vista. I'm not trying to do this locally but remotely to a computer across the states. I've used CoRD and also the remote desktop app by Microsoft for Mac OS X. I've also tried using Hamachi(X) but had no luck. Which is your guys' best cross-platform software for remote desktop (that actually works)?

Remote Desktop should work just fine as long as you have an edition of Vista that supports it (Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate).

Otherwise use VNC. There are about a million client and server apps for OSX and Windows.

The Vista box may have it's built in firewall active, be behind NAT, or some other type of firewall.

You may need to enable port forwarding for RDP to that machine's IP.

The standard RDP port is 3389.

Some Google-Fu should help find you directions/tips for your specific situation.
