I transfplanted a OS X hard drive from a old G4 powermac to a different G4 Powermac.
Now I can't change display resolution, only VGA. (different video card, monitor). Is there anyway for new computer to detect these settings? I assumed it did automatically.

If the new machine has a third-party graphics card (one not supplied by apple), or if the card in the newer G4 came out after the version of the OS on the drive (10.2, which is very old), it probably doesn't have the drivers for it. The best thing to do would be to upgrade OS X to a more recent version so that the drivers will then be available, or see if the drivers may be available online (I believe ati has drivers for older version of the OS X on their website -- if your card is ati).
