I'm the (somewhat) proud owner of a Macbook Pro OS X 10.4.10, and have had a problem come up with iTunes when I try to burn CDs. It's giving me a "medium write error," and from what I'm hearing, this is a pretty widespread problem, both with Macs and PCs. Has anyone YET determined what the cause is? I've noticed some people saying it's the brand of CD you're using--I'm not buying that because this problem came up out of NOWHERE with NO WARNING, and I'm using the same blank CDs I was using before the problem came up. Could it be a bug or series of bugs in the new 7.3.1 version (or whatever the number is) of iTunes--the one they came up with in honor of the new iPhones? I need some enlightenment on this and would appreciate hearing from any of you who are having this problem and might have answers. As someone who loves to burn CDs as a hobby, not being able to do it now is driving me batty.

I have the same problem on and off, not so much on the last spindle of discs I bought so...I thought maybe it was the discs.

Try burning CDs and DVDs at a low speed. If you use the maximum speed that your drive allegedly handles, you have a higher chance of problems. Some applications don't allow you to adjust the speed, so either you are out of luck or you have to find a different application that allows you to select a slower write speed (like Finder). I'm not sure how much of a difference this will make. I had one write error on a DVD recently, but I don't burn too much so I don't know if it will be a recurring problem.
