I saw this video today on Cnet and it really shows a quick and easy guide to getting started with OS X. I think if enough Windows users see this it will address a lot of their concerns about how difficult they think it is learning how to use a Mac. This video should have been shown a long while ago. Here's the link. Video - Getting started with your new Mac Insider Secrets - Tips: free video on CNETTV.com - CNETTV

Does that video require a quad-core machine or something? It's choppy as hell on my G5.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

It seems to be a streaming issue. I just downloaded the video and it plays fine. It's something I want to keep anyway so that I can give to my friends and family who might want switch to Mac.

I've noticed that some PC users don't want to switch because they think it's going to be hard to learn a new OS. Some people just fear the unknown. My cousin who is a PC user didn't use Firefox for the longest time because he thought it was weird and different.

Did she just recommend online storage over LAN file transfer?

I'm actually real surprised c|net would run a piece like this without adding in more bitching.

Your typical switcher isn't likely to own an external hard drive. Apple's site at Apple - Get a Mac - How to move to Mac lists three far preferable solutions: let Apple do it for you, use your iPod, or use an ethernet cable or wireless network.

An iPod is an external hard drive.

This video does not appear to be geared toward the type of users that would know how to set up a LAN between a Mac and Windows PC. Try explaining that to a non-techie (even in the simplest terms), and they'll become lost pretty quickly.

Why do I have to double-click the blank area in the page to get the video window to appear? If the page title had not included the word "video", I would not have realized there was supposed to be a video.

Cnet videos are the worst. Their player doesn't allow pause while loading or scrubbing.
