Running 10.4.9 on a MacBook. Did the latest updates EXCEPT for 10.4.10.
After that, I did the update to Parallels 3.0.

Now I am unable to start any Office Apps. If I click on them in the dock, they bounce just once and stop. If I double-click on them in applications, you see the zooming logo... but then nothing. Its like they have been "turned off".

I thought at first it might be the new Parallels StupidSelect stuff that I turned off... but the same thing happens with the Macromedia apps like Dreamweaver and Freehand, which I have never had on the PeeCee side. Soooo, I am now thinking it might be the Mac updates or something else entirely.

Has anyone seen such behavior?
Any suggestions on how I fix it?

Sounds like a Rosetta problem. Try rebooting.

Yes. And I think that's one of the updates that I ran.
Is that a problem?

And yes, I've rebooted numerous times.

Thanks.

Indeed... it is the QT 7.2 problem. Given QT affects the ability to launch half of my apps, I think QT should be safely considered part of the OS X operating system, not just a mere app.

The fix is here, FWIW:

Mac OS X: Some applications may not open after QuickTime 7.2 Update

Why the ---- does Apple still have that QT 7.2 update up?

Thanks.
