Does anyone have a link to a list of the keys you can hold down when starting up your computer to get different results? Applecare's closed and I can't remember one of the things they tried when I was working with them earlier.

Go to the Help application (Help menu in the Finder), and enter "startup shortcuts". This will tell you all you need to know.

In particular look for the articles, "Shortcuts for Starting Up" and "Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts".

Yes, the Mac OS X help system really is useful.
