Well, I finally received my MBP on Friday, and everything so far has been smooth sailing except for the fact that the background colour will not stay properly selected on Finder windows. If I select a background colour and then later reopen that window, the colour will have changed to something else. For instance, if I select a steely-blue, it will change to a purple. Even more odd is that if I open up multiple copies of the same windows with the View Options open, it will alternate between the correct colour and the random new colour. My only guess is that this is a side effect from transferring over my files, preferences, etc. Is there a type of cache that I can flush or a preference that I could delete that might remedy this? Deleting the Finder preferences does nothing.

Per-window preferences are stored in the invisible .DS_Store files. The Finder creates one for each folder that has it's parameters customized.

Use any utility to show invisible files, then drag the relevant .DS_Store file to the trash & restart the Finder. Or try DeStore to remove .DS_Stores from one folder at a time, or FinderClean to remove them all. There are more utilities available that offer this functionality.

I had already tried resetting the .DS_Store files with Onyx, and that didn't work. Nonetheless, I tried DeStore and I'm still having the same problem.
