There are a few downloadable apps and games for the iPhone now. With the logic of 'Well iPhones and Macs both run OS X' I tried downloading an iPhone version of Doom to see if it worked on my Macbook. It didn't and had a similar symbol to a classic app on a system with no OS 9 - a white circle with a line through it over the top of the icon.

Is it likely that we will be able to run these apps on OS X Leopard?

Look after my manor, or I will bum you, literally, to death.

Your MacBook has an Intel processor, the iPhone an ARM processor, so of course the iPhone applications do not run on Macs. You would need something like Rosetta for ARM to run iPhone applications in emulation. Maybe Apple has something like that for development of iPhone apps, but the Rosetta that ships on Macs only does PowerPC. That won't change in Leopard.
