Changing Hard Drive icon - doesn't work

	I tried to copy an icon and paste it on the Macintosh HD icon. Unfortunately it doesn't work. It works on other icons but not the HD one. What's strange is before I formatted my mac, it was fine. Anyone know of a way to solve this? edit: i noticed that the hard drive permissions are Read Only. im pretty sure this is causing the problem as i tried making a test folder read only and doing so gave me the same issue. how can i fix this? edit2: solved. repaired permissions.
