seanc has suggested an OS X FAQ thread. Similar ideas have been making rounds among the staff,
So I would like to collect ideas on possible topics and how this FAQ should be published: should we make one thread or several, one for each topic? What kind of topics would you like to see? Would you like to see `approved' threads (i. e. mods can promote certain articles to FAQ articles by moving it to a `read-only' FAQ forum)? Any other ideas? We could also make the FAQ forum open for all sorts of software issues, e. g. Windows networking FAQ, backup FAQ or data recovery FAQ. The more specific, the better!
I'm looking forward to your input, guys!

Q) Do I need to defragment Mac OS X?
A) Defragging is not usually required oN HFS+ Volumes. Diskwarrior can rebuild directory structures - this is a good way to prevent possible errors on your file system. Check out MacOSXHints review of Diskwarrior here

I think having the thread read only would be sensible, otherwise it gets clogged up with users asking similar or other questions.
Most topics have been addressed at one point, so they just need to be found, clarified and put into the new thread.
Perhaps we could make a subforum out of this and put all FAQs like backup, networking as suggested by OreoCookie in there.
