I recently upgraded to iPhoto '08 and really like the interface. It makes me want to look at my photos and interact with them. The problem is that, rather than rotating images on the fly using EXIF data (like every other image viewing software worth mentioning) it creates a duplicate of all "vertical" images imported into the library. The result is a bloated library with frivolous duplicates. With the option of copying imported files into the iPhoto library turned OFF I have a library several gigs in size, 99.9% of which are these rotated and re-saved images. Seems pretty obvious that iPhoto recognizes the rotate EXIF tag so I am wondering if anyone knows of a workaround for this or if anyone knows of a plugin that forces the software to not make rotated dupes and rotate images on the fly. It would be tremendously helpful and my poor hard drive would thank you.
