I just turned File Vault on. Now, I cannot use any of the fonts that were in the ~/Library/Fonts directory. When I opened Font Book, the "User" collection is disabled and nothing occurs when I select "Enable 'User' ". I don't get any messages in Console when I attempt to enable the User collection, but I do get these messages when I attempt to add a font:

2007-09-30 03:29:35.730 Font Book[6701] Failed to deactivate container 154, with status -45.

The container numbers varied on each line. I can't find anything in Google about this message. Is this a known issue? Are there any known fixes (short of disabling File Vault)?

Try right-clicking on the left sidebar in Font Book and making a new Library. Put all the fonts in ~/Library/Fonts/ into that new collection.

I have this same problem, it's annoying but this workaround addresses the problem. Maybe it'll get fixed when Leopard comes out...
