Yes, because Apple almost always announces things on Monday, the first of the month.
Oh, wait — no.

Its either going to be Oct. 5, Oct. 30/31 or it will be delayed again.
Oct 5 meaning 10/5 like 10.5.

It could be announced on May 10, which is 5/10 - 10/5 backwards... It would be a little puzzle.

Looking at the latest beta with only one real known issue I doubt there's any reason to delay Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard once again.

I'm sure there are more known issues than that or stuff that has been backburnered for a little while. The question is whether 10.5 is ready for the crowd of users that will snatch it up the moment it hits the streets - the stuff they were planning on having working fully for the release. These other people/companies will probably wait for 10.5.1 or 10.5.2 anyway.

If we go on past releases from Apple, my guess is it will be released 10/26. Why? Well, Tiger was released 4/29/2005, Panther was released 10/24/2003 and iPhone was released 06/29/2007, the last Friday of the month for each. And for what it's worth, Panther was announced 10/08/2003, 16 days before it was released, and Tiger was announced on 04/12/2005, 17 days before it shipped. So, Leopard may not be announced until Oct. 10th and ship on the 26th.
Again, this is just pure speculation.

So clever, you may be right...or not...I know I'll be ordering Leopard the day it's on Apple's store at educational price. I had 10.04 and all iterations between...if I can survive the OS X beta days with all the "debugging code" Leopard will be child's play

Another delay due to the need for more people to the iPhone team, just to lockdown the iPhone a little bit more.
Some said 10/19, but who knows.

Hope they will give the usual discount to those who bought a Tiger computer within the past month...

Same applied to Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. But they did made it go GM very soon after the beta appeared with only one "known issue" left. Obviously there were more issues otherwise we wouldn't have made it all the way to 10.4.11.
In general when there are no "know issues" left stated in the release notes a Mac OS X version is ready for mass production.

The only discount I know of is if you were to buy a new Mac after 10.5's release date has been announced. You will be elegible for 10.5 for the cost of shipping. Since no one knows when 10.5 is coming out, it seems everyone so far is buying 10.5 at full price.
I agree with the final Friday of this month, and I will be stopping at the Apple Store on the way home to buy it

See, I'm waiting for Leopard to be announced/released before I buy a new machine. But I don't actually plan to use Leopard until 10.5.3-4ish. I just want a free copy of the OS for when things finally start working correctly.
First thing I'll do with my new machine is to install good ole' Tiger.

Well, I'll have to go with "no" on both "Monday" and "10/5 = 10.5"

If the machine ships with 10.5 already installed, chances are you won't be able to downgrade. If it doesn't Tiger will already be installed the 10.5 DVD will be included.
If the model hasn't changed, then you'll probably be lucky enough to be able to install the version of Tiger that originally shipped with that model.

The new Finder is my most desired feature - hope its good, and not just contrived to look/act like iTunes for no other reason than Steve likes iTunes.

I'm glad Mail is taking on this look too.
