The Bootcamp beta expires in October because this is the month that Leopard is due out.

It is a beta and for the convenience of Apple, it prevents users from using a beta after the final version is out. The benefits of the corporation outweigh the benefits of users.
Apple wants you to buy Leopard, which includes a full non-expiring version of Boot Camp. This behavior is typical of all software development.
The Weyland-Yutani corporation approves.

And the "expiration" is only for the earliest two iterations. The current version is 1.4, which does not expire-that's why the blurb says to update to the latest version.

I figured out what file makes windows bootcamp die. its the ati graphics. i manually installed everything else and it worked fine but eh... well.. graphics and moving about was super slow. i tried to download a version of bootcamp ati graphics driver and it did the same thing. windows powers up and is working, the screen is just black... but you can hear windows doing its thing...

I can understand that Apple wants us to buy Leopard. Duh. It still makes no sense why they would say that you can only dual-boot in Leopard when the functionality clearly already exists within Tiger. So what happens when Puma (my fictional name for 10.6) comes out? You have to upgrade or you wont be able to dual-boot again? Rubbish. I may be the minority, but I never upgrade my OS right out of the gate. I always wait till the 3-4 revision before upgrading ... I let you people find the bugs.

Notice how Apple never described Boot Camp as a feature of 10.4 while it is a new feature of 10.5?
Best thing is that people will defend Apple because this is logic we have made up to be true. We have raised a great society.

that is pretty lame that bootcamp doesnt work on 10.4. when the whole craze of it was that it was capable of running both windows and mac. does anyone know a way around the ATI graphics problem i described earlier?
the main reason i need the dual boot is because my school gave freshman macbook pros and i am in computer animation... so it doesn't help much since our stuff is pc-linux based. but mac is nice for graphics work. its just not useful for other stuff.
