I'm a big fan of Tiger's innovation of the Burn Folder . Does the burn folder only work with the Mac's primary (internal) drive...or can it be made to select an external FireWire DVD burner ?

I just added a FW/DVD drive of those to an eMac , since the eMac is an S.O.B. to tear down and replace components. I did it once to upgrade the hard drive to 160 Gb ...and I don't care to ever see the inside of an eMac ever again...

There's no reason for it not to work as long as your burner is supported by the OS.

Original poster here:
Using Burn Folder with an external FireWire optical drive works fine. I was concerned only because the new drive ( Mercury Pro 20x DVD from OWC) did not come preinstalled with Apple firmware like some other optical drives I've bought from them. But it was recognized right off and burned flawlessly.

I have never seen this "bonus" feature described in Pogue's Tiger book or anywhere else.
