Hi all,

I have a MacMini (OS X.4.10) connected to my 43" Plasma TV (widescreen). I use it as my DVD player and for internet. Until yesterday it was connected through the VGA input of my TV and I had the screen resolution set to 1280 x 768.

Today I decided to connect it through the DVI input, since it's digital I thought I'd be better, but only 4:3 resolutions are now available and the biggest resolution available is 1024 x 768. I thought there used to be a checkbox that said something like show me only resolutions compatible with my monitor, but I don't see it. My TV is detected as a PDP monitor.

Is there a way to manually change the resolution, by editing somekind of configuration file? Or is there a utility or an applescript to could help me do this?

Thanks

switchresx will let you change to an arbitrary resolution.

What's the model of the TV? Some are strange (and low) actual resolutions.

I can't remember the model of my TV I bought it two year's ago. Supposed to be HDTV. The weirdest thing is that my screen resolution in the menu of my TV is set to 1280 x 768. Anyways.

I'll give switchresx a try.

Thanks for your quick reply.

That is HD.

Just because your TV is HD does not mean is supports 1080.
